ABT jingles with holiday cheer
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy swung into the Alberta Bair Theatre last week, ushering in Christmas cheer with their unique brand of big band sound and swing revival–to the tune of popular Christmas songs.
Scotty Morris, founder and lead singer of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, entertained holiday patrons with his charming presence, indicating his creation “Mr. Heatmiser,” to be his favorite Christmas tune.
“He’s mister white Christmas, he’s mister snow. He’s mister icicle, he’s mister ten below,” Morris sang.
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy has two Christmas albums they previously released, but they didn’t limit themselves to just holiday tunes, delivering swing tunes from their first record up to the latest release–”How Big Can You Get?: The Music of Cab Calloway.”
The Alberta Bair Theatre continues the holiday events on Dec. 20 with “A Christmas Carol,” performed by the Nebraska Theater Caravan, a yearly tradition hosted by the venue. 70s folk rock star Don McLean hosts New Year’s Eve celebrations at the theater, and renowned composer Marvin Hamlisch will lead the Billings Symphony Orchestra as they perform some of his greatest works from films including “The Way We Were,” and “The Sting.”
