Embrace the remainder of Winter
So, Christmas just ended a millisecond ago and all of a sudden we’re bombarded with ads for the Spring 2012 fashion season! Meanwhile, January magazines come out and are full of predictions and trends for Spring! Instead of jumping right into Spring 2012 fashions, let’s focus on the winter months we still have ahead of us, here in Montana. We have quite a few more days to hide that extra holiday eating we just got done doing. So let’s think of our long Montana winter as a blessing. Take a trend that is currently in style, which you might not gravitate towards, and JUST DO IT!!! Try that one pair of colored denim or cords you have been eyeing, go monochromatic, or dip into florals!
Replace one pair of denim in your closet with pants that have a pop of color. Trust us, color will help with those winter blues. Crazy enough, this will provide you with an abundance of new clothing options. Colored jeans paired with neutral tops look very sophisticated together. If you’re not as adventurous, layer subtle tones and you can still pull off the trend. Corduroy adds another element or texture that even amps up your outfit more! Try a burgundy cord with an oversized sweater and pumps and watch the compliments soar!
Color is energy. Monochromatic outfits are electrifying. Yes even black and creams are show-stopping. Rather than worrying if the grey pants match the light grey top just throw it all together with a grey hat and grey shoes. Make a whole outfit of one color and really throw off a positive vibe. All black done the right way is so sophisticated. A favorite of ours is a monochromatic scheme of winter whites. Yummy! Be sure to make sure the fabric is heavier when you are pulling off a winter white so you donʼt freeze in Montana. On the flip side….donʼt be afraid of color. The easiest one to try is blue. Everyone has a pair of blue jeans. Create an ensemble from the denim you already have. Whatever the one color palette is…walk out of your closet with a smile!
Alert..Alert..Alert!! Everything is coming up roses…and daffodils, and pansies, and poppys!! We are not talking about your Grandmas garden. Donʼt be taken aback by the thoughts of the past. Have fun with it! Grab a flower power bag or rock a floral top with a dark denim! While flowered pants might be a bit much for the masses, a floral
cardi is easy to pull off. Just once this season buy an inexpensive piece to play with the floral trend. We promise you it will be addicting and youʼll be an expert in the blossom department in no time!
