A last minute “outside the chocolate box” Valentine’s Day
So Valentine’s Day has crept up on you, and you have absolutely no idea what to do. If you’ve had several Valentine’s Days with the same person, the pressure may be on to do something you haven’t already done time and again. There comes a point where roses and chocolates say, “Oh my word. Is it the middle of February already? I completely forgot so here is your entirely uninspired gift.”
Help is on the way. Check out these ideas for “outside of the chocolate box” Valentine Day celebrations. Mooch one of these, or use them to inspire your own celebration.
His and hers spa day: Valentine’s Day this year falls on a Tuesday. Snooze. Let’s be honest. Tuesday is not a very sexy day. So the first thing you might want to do is discuss celebrating Valentine’s Day NEXT weekend. (See how you just bought yourself a few more days to NOT look like a complete loser?) Spas might be slammed on Valentine’s Day, but you may still have half a chance of getting in this weekend. His and her spa days are relaxing and energizing at the same time, and if you’re a guy and you plan this? Well, look who just went from being a forgetful flunky to a rock star!
Theatre: Again, this is more of a weekend plan than a Tuesday plan but lots of cool things are happening in local theater right now. This idea is a bit more inspired than going to the movies.
In Good Glazes: Creating something together is an amazing opportunity to bond. You also come away with a souvenir that will always remind you of the time spent together. In Good Glazes is a “do-it-yourself” pottery shop. Visit their website http://www.ingoodglazes.com for more information.
Pub/food crawl: Head downtown and alternate visits to Billings’ microbreweries with trips to the sushi bar and places that serve tapas and appetizers. On Montana Avenue, you can more or less get the job done on foot (and Angry Hanks and Yellowstone Valley Brewery are just a block north on 1st Ave. North). Hire a cab to take you home or a limo if you really want to impress your Valentine.
Geyser Park: Some of the best times couples share is when they become kids again. Go to an arcade or Geyser Park. Geyser Park is open year round and has a new arena layout and equipment PLUS indoor laser tag.
Dinner in: Spend a few minutes on the Internet researching a dinner you wouldn’t ordinarily make, and shop somewhere like World Market to find ingredients you don’t normally shop for. Then make dinner together. You can get tacky aprons, wine glasses, whatever. This is the perfect last minute Valentine Day idea because you don’t need reservations!
