That’s Hot

July 10, 2012 @ 5:00 pm by jodie

Yesterday the heat made me whiny.  Clothes sticking to my skin, skin looking wilted and funky and me wishing all ice was gin flavored.

I got tired of whining and did something about it.

First stop: Sephora at JC Penny in Rimrock Mall.   They carry oodles of fun skincare and cosmetic brands. I was after Philosophy.  Philosophy makes something called Hope in a Jar and my face said “Yes- hope in a jar is exactly what we are looking for…”.  Bonus- there is also a version with spf!

So they were out when I arrived. The skincare girl waved her wand and (visualize sparkles and rainbows) there was a travel size still in stock!! Perfect!  There was also a travel size of their Purity face wash.  I grabbed that also. She further recommended Josie Maran’s trial size of 100% pure Argon oil.

Apparently Argon oil is a Moroccan beauty secret that is secret no more.  Josie’s world travels as a model led her to this wonder liquid and she’s been selling it ever since. You can use it on your face, you can smooth fly aways in your mane, you can rub it on elbows that look like astroturf. Yay!

I agree to sign up for their little club card and just like that I get free swag because it was my birthday last week. Right on!!  They will also sample you on products you would like to try but are not sure about.

At this point I feel significantly loaded up on pure and organic magic and I make my way to TJ Maxx for some breezy, less sticky new clothes.

I score again as I find skirts for $9.99 from the brand Prana. (Yes- it’s totally true and I bought two of them!)

As fast as I can go, I am pulling out $10 treasures all over the place and decide it is perfectly within reason to revamp my workout/massage/photoging wardrobes.   Quick drying performance fabrics, wispy shirts and fun workout shorts for my crazy outdoor adventures. Brands like Lole and Marika and Lucky.

And then we come to the best find of the trip: An ice cube tray with robot shapes for only $6.99!!!

The question is, do I infuse those cubes with gin to go into my g&t or relax a little and make them with lime juice and a sprig of rosemary?

Anyway, you will feel much more chill if you run down to Sephora and TJ Maxx tonight.  And you may want to run because there are a lot of readers reading this just like you are…
