Local Boy CR Smith wins HGTV/Paste Magazine Song Contest
Hey that’s cool.
A local musician, Chris Smith aka CR Smith, writes a song (with his longtime songwriting partner Edward Keels- Houston TX), records it in a quick 10 hour studio session, submits it one day before a song contest ends and finds out three days later he won!
So who is this guy? Some of you might know him as the local funeral singer. Others know him as that nice looking young man who sings at weddings. Still others know him as the worship leader at a local megachurch.
Who he is now, however, is the winner of HGTV/Paste Magazine’s “Be the New Sound of HGTV” contest. This means his song will be played in all kinds of promos for House Hunters International across HGTV and other networks. He will also get to play the very rad SXSW in Austin, TX this spring.
Paste Magazine Nick Purdy: “I’m personally thrilled both for CR Smith, whose song couldn’t be more perfect, but also for HGTV, who took a risk to find a new voice, and it paid off.”
Chris has been writing and performing his own music for almost 20 years. He’s been writing songs with his songwriting partner Eddie for almost as many years. They are both stoked to have an opportunity to have their music heard nationwide.
So give a local guy some love and buy the song on iTunes.
