A Festive Holiday Weekend

The holiday weekend has begun!  If you’ve got friends and family visiting, there’s plenty to do to keep them entertained (and get them out of your house for a little while).

One of Billings most successful jazz groups, Alex Nauman Organ Trio releases their vinyl album, Too Damn Tight!, tonight at Yellowstone Valley Brewing.  Doors open at 4pm. Too Damn Tight!  is an idea inspired by classic ’60′s blues and boogaloo records from some of Alex’s library: Early George Benson, Wes Montgomery’s “Verve Era,” and even some of Ray Charles’ gospel.  Be sure to check it out!

For the holidays, many of Billings’ favorite entertainers come back to town to spend Christmas with their loved ones.  And lucky for us, they often will perform a show while they are here.

This year, the annual Chase Hawks Rough Stock Rodeo, falls on the holiday weekend and is tonight at 7pm in the Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark. Most of the cowboys and stock come direct fromt the NFR in Las Vegas, making this one of the very best rough stock rodeos there is.  The rodeo is one of the biggest fundraisers for the Chase Hawks Memorial Association which truly is an outstanding non-profit organization.  They award grants, organizes volunteer efforts and labor, and co-sponsors fund-raising benefits for families facing crisis situations that fall outside traditional sources of aid.

If you’re looking for a more traditional Christmas activity:

In the mood for a rock show?  1111 Presents has you covered with a Dramady (two-piece pop/rock) concert at Manny’s Sports and Entertainment Sunday night.

And of course, you can find even more in our events section.
