Strawberry Festival is this Saturday
The 22nd Annual Strawberry Festival is Saturday, June 8th from 7:30am-4pm. This community event takes place under Skypoint and starts with a public pancake breakfast, includes an outdoor Kid’s Zone, and features arts & crafts, food trucks, live entertainment, and a 65′ strawberry shortcake. The 2nd Annual Strawberry Street Art Fair, a collaborative effort between the Downtown Billings Alliance, Canvas, and Underground Culture Krew will take place on historic Montana Avenue at the Depot from 10-4pm. Both areas of the festival offer free admittance.
The Strawberry Pancake Breakfast hosted by the Billings Heights Lions Club kicks off the event at 7:30am. The Kid’s Zone sponsored by MSUB and the Center for Children and Families will open at 8am and will be located on Broadway and 3rd Avenue North. Hosted under purple tents, activities will include crafts, face painting, sidewalk chalk drawing, and story readings.
The Strawberry Festival’s Arts & Crafts vendors come from around the region to showcase a collection of creations including photography, oil paintings, jewelry, textiles, woodwork, sculptures, glass, ceramics, garden art, and more. The festival will also have booths from local non-profit and commercial organizations, as well as, food vendors featuring Asian, Mexican, BBQ, Italian, and vegetarian cuisines. In total, the festival hosts over 150 booths.
Always a crowd favorite, the Chefs and Cooks Association of Montana will once again assemble the 65ft Strawberry Shortcake at 11am. The cake serves approximately 1,500 people and costs $2.00 a slice.
The Strawberry Street Art Fair will run from 10am-4pm in the parking lot at the Depot on historic Montana Avenue. Local arts advocacy collective, Canvas, and Underground Culture Krew will be conducting live art for a Montana Avenue mural project. In addition, various artists will be on site, each with a 10 by 10 foot space to work in with the medium of their choice.
The Railyard will host a bar featuring Trailhead Spirits and is sponsoring the live music portion of the program with several bands to perform. Taste of Asia will have a food truck on location.
There will be a shuttle running from 10am-3pm with multiple stops for convenient, direct access to and from the main Festival, as well as, to the Strawberry Street Fair on Montana Avenue. The shuttle route includes stops around the Festival area, as well as, at the Western Heritage Center, and the Depot.
