How to Shop Sales
It’s mid-July and you know what that means? Summer SALES! That’s right time to snatch up some great fashions at affordable prices. With sales going on in the big box stores and Downtown Crazy Days, find out how to shop smart and avoid overspending and buyers remorse.
Here are some tips to consider when shopping sales.
Make a List
Before going out there and getting “caught up” in the thrill of a deal, I would recommend taking a mental inventory of your closet (or snap a photo on your phone) and making a list of the things you would like to add or need to be replace. This will help guide you and make sure you aren’t buying something you already have and keep you from getting distracted by unnecessary items along the way.
Make Sure it Fits
I know this seems like a no brainer, but I see people purchase things that don’t fit correctly just because it is such a great deal, all the time. No matter what the deal is, when you get something that doesn’t fit and you can’t wear, it’s a waist! JUST DON’T DO IT! If you aren’t going to listen to me then make sure you buy something that is a too big rather than too small. It is better to size up and have something altered to fit than buy something you hope to fit into later.
Load Up on Basics
This is the best time to get those necessary layering pieces basic tees, tanks, and denim at awesome prices. I tend to shop the more expensive brands here so that I get a good deal on something that has the quality behind it. I’m going to get a lot more wear out of my basics so I want to make sure they will last some time.
Don’t Forget Accessories
A lot of the time we forget to look for accessories like jewelry, scarves, belts, and shoes during a sale but this is the easiest and most affordable way to update your wardrobe. Make sure to grab a few essentials and this is also a good area to take a little risk with. Grab some statement jewelry or a scarf that will add that little something extra to your wardrobe.
Try a New Trend
When looking at a trend that is more out there, a sale can help you take that risk without breaking the bank. Trends come and go and often come back again, so keep that in mind when looking to take a risk. You want to keep current but also look for something that you can get a few seasons out of. Ask the sales associate what they are seeing for the upcoming seasons. Most of the time they know what merchandise has been coming in consistently from season to season and what will be coming in upcoming months.
Hope this helps guide you to a more cost effective and efficient sale. HAPPY SHOPPING! Comment below and let me know what deals, trends, or favorite items you got this summer!
