Holiday Fun this Weekend
It’s only December 6th but before you know it Christmas will be upon us! This month is full of holiday events and activities and this weekend is packed full of them. Here are a few to check out:
The annual Christmas Stroll takes place this Friday from 6pm to 9 pm in Downtown Billings. Downtown stores will have extended hours and specials. Street vendors will offer arts and crafts, hot chocolate, cider, roasted nuts, baked goods, and more. Throughout the evening, there will be Christmas music and live entertainment under Skypoint. Various downtown restaurants will feature drink specials and the Downtown Billings Association will host an area with gift wrapping, adult beverages, and special offers. MSUB Extended Campus Offices at 112 N. Broadway will have a complimentary Kids’ Zone with activities such as crafts, baking, dancing, and Christmas story readings. Santa will be strolling through various businesses, offering Christmas cheer and photo opportunities for children (be sure to bring your camera).
Bottega, a great boutique located Downtown at 2814 2nd Avenue, will be hosting its Annual Benefit Fashion Show on Friday night as well. The event benefits Generosity Water which is an organization that helps provide clean water including the building of wells in developing countries. The fashion show will include a live DJ, refreshments, silent auction items, and of course, the latest in fashion. Admission to the fashion show is free.
Artwalk will also be taking place Downtown and the galleries and local businesses will be displaying special art exhibits, many with holiday themes.
Yellowstone Art Museum will be holding it’s Winterfair this Friday from 5pm to 9pm and Saturday from 10am to 3pm. Artists and community groups will have works of art for sale, including pottery, jewelry, clothing, and fine art. Admission is free on Friday evening and will coincide with the downtown Artwalk and Christmas Stroll. The museum will also host Jam at the YAM in the café from 5:30 – 8 p.m., featuring the sounds of Chuck Holland. Raven’s Café d’Art will be serving a select menu during both days of the event. Admission on Saturday will be just $1.
ZooLights, the region’s only drive through light display begins at ZooMontana this weekend. ZooLights will take place December 7th and 8th, 14th and 15th and the 2oth through the 23rd and hours are 5pm to 9pm. Admission is $10 per car, $15 per van, and $20 per bus.
“A Christmas Carol” is playing at Billings Studio Theatre this Thursday through Sunday and next Thursday through Sunday (Dec 13th through 16th) as well. Watch the timeless tale of Ebeneezer Scrooge brought to life on stage.
In the mood for something a little comedic but also holiday themed? Prince Theatre is performing it’s Christmas Cabaret entitled “Figgy Pudding II-Revenge Of The Fruitcake,” on Friday and Saturday night at The Holiday Inn Grand Convention Center. This show features festive holiday music along and comedy. Tickets are $20.
The Polar Express will take place at The Billings Depot on Saturday and Sunday with showtimes at 4pm and 7pm both evenings. Kids can come in their jammies and will get to sip on hot cocoa and chow down on cookies as they watch the story of The Polar Express performed live. And Santa will be making an appearance as well. Tickets are $25 and include a 25th anniversary hard copy edition of the book. 406-656-7273 to make reservations.
Holidays at the Moss Mansion is taking place now on Tuesdays through Sundays. The beautiful mansion is decorated for the holidays including 17 trees decorated for this year’s theme “holiday music.” Regular admission applies. If you want an even more festive tour, you can sign up for a Candlelight Tour of the mansion Fridays through December 21st. The candlelight tours are followed with refreshments and snacks and tickets are $25.
